Silverstripe: just another CMS, or a gold nugget?
I was looking for a flexible and user-friendly CMS to use in a project I am doing for Ardent Interactive. My prime candidate was Wordpress until I was referred to the website of a CMS I had never heard about - Silverstripe. It’s an open-source CMS written in PHP and offering a flexible MVC development framewrok called Sapphire. One can easily extend and improve the core functionality of the CMS by making use of the modular architecture of the framework for developing modules and widgets. Silverstripe’s community is still small and there is a limited number of skins, modules and widgets available for download, but I believe they’re on the right way and many developers will soon join their efforts.
What I like the most about Silverstripe are the powerful yet intuitive admin section, easy skinning and the availability of exactly the type of modules I need (without having to search through tons of almost identical ones). So, I encourage everyone to give it a try and hopefully it will prove useful to you too!
